Indian Oil Corporation Limited, one of India’s largest commercial enterprises and a Fortune Global 500 company, has invited applications for Apprentice positions across four refinery locations: Haldia, Gujarat, Barauni, and Guwahati. These positions are offered as part of the national skill-building initiative under the Apprentices Act, 1961/1973.

Application Fees

There is no application fee for IOCL Apprenticeship 2025. All eligible candidates can apply online free of cost.

Educational Qualification Details –

The Candidates must have passed your qualifying exam through a Regular Full-Time Course and minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (all semesters/years) and 45% If the candidates belongs to SC/ST or PwBD categories.

• Trade Apprentice (Chemical / Boiler): 3-year B.Sc. (Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry).
• Trade Apprentice – Matric (Class 10) PLUS ITI in Fitter Trade (minimum 2 years duration) with a Pass class.
• Technician Apprentice – 3-year Diploma in Engineering in the relevant discipline (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation).
• Trade Apprentice – 3-year B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com.
• Trade Apprentice (Accountant) – 3-year B.Com.
• Data Entry Operator (Fresher) – Class XII Pass (Non-Graduate).
• Data Entry Operator (Skill Certificate) – Class XII Pass PLUS a “Domestic Data Entry Operator” Skill Certificate (training of less than one year).

Selection Process

The selection methodology is straightforward but strictly merit-driven.

1. Merit List Preparation:
   • Candidates are ranked in descending order based on the percentage of marks obtained in their prescribed qualification (e.g., your B.Sc, Diploma, or ITI marks).
   • They look at the aggregate of all semesters/years, not just the final year.
   • Tie-Breaker: If two candidates have the same percentage, the older candidate (based on Date of Birth) gets a higher rank. If dates of birth are also the same, the one with higher Matriculation marks wins.
2. Document Verification:
   • Shortlisted candidates from the merit list will be called for document verification. You must produce original documents at this stage.
3. Medical Fitness:
   • Final selection is subject to being declared “Fit” in the Pre-Engagement Medical Examination

How to Apply

The application process is a mandatory Two-Step procedure.

Step 1: Register on the Government Portal Depending on your qualification, you must register on the appropriate National Portal:

• Trade Apprentices (ITI/B.Sc/BA/B.Com/12th): Register at https://apprenticeshipindia.gov.in/ (NAPS Portal).
• Technician Apprentices (Diploma Engineers): Register at https://nats.education.gov.in/ (NATS Portal).
• Action: After registering, search for the specific Refinery (e.g., “Guwahati Refinery” or “Gujarat Refinery”) under vacancies/opportunities and apply there first.

Step 2: Apply on the IOCL Portal

• Once you have your Registration Number from Step 1, go to www.iocrefrecruit.in.
• Fill out the online application form.
• Crucial: Use the same email ID and mobile number for both Step 1 and Step 2. Ensure your profile details (Name, DOB, Marks) match exactly on both portals.

Important Documents

When you are called for Document Verification (tentatively in January 2026), you must bring the originals and self-attested copies of:

1. 10th Pass/Matriculation Certificate (For Date of Birth proof).
2. Qualification Marksheets & Certificates: Class XII, ITI (all semesters), Diploma (all semesters), or Degree (all semesters/years).
3. Conversion Certificate: If your college gave you CGPA or Grades, you must bring a certificate from the institute converting it to a percentage.
4. Caste/Category Certificate: SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/EWS/PwBD certificates in the prescribed central government format.
5. Skill Certificate: Only for Data Entry Operators applying under Code 111.
6. Registration Proof: A printout of your NAPS or NATS portal registration.
7. Photo ID: Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, or Passport.
8. Photographs: Colour passport-sized photos (keep the digital jpg ready for upload too).
