Overview for SSC MTS Recruitment
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct a combined competitive examination in 2025 to recruit Multi‑Tasking (Non‑Technical) Staff (MTS) and Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) posts. Both posts fall under Pay Level‑1 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix, Group ‘C’ non‑gazetted, non‑ministerial. MTS positions serve across various Ministries/Departments/Offices and constitutional/statutory bodies nationwide; Havaldar posts are specific to the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) and the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) under the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance. Salary – SSC MTS Recruitment 2025
Candidates will get ₹18,000 – ₹56,900 per month as per the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (Level-1), along with allowances like DA, HRA, and other benefits.

Havaldar Posts

Age Relaxation
- SC/ST: +5 years
- OBC (Non‑Creamy Layer): +3 years
- PwBD (Unreserved/EWS): +10 years; (OBC): +13 years; (SC/ST): +15 years
- Ex‑Servicemen: Up to +3 years after deducting military service
- Central Government Civilian Employees: Up to 40 years (45 for SC/ST) for 3 years’ service
Exam Pattern – SSC MTS Recruitment 2025
The CBE is divided into two sessions, each lasting 45 minutes (60 minutes for scribes):
- Session‑I (120 marks total)
- Numerical & Mathematical Ability: 20 Qs/60 marks
- Reasoning & Problem Solving: 20 Qs/60 marks
- Negative Marking: None
- Session‑II (150 marks total)
- General Awareness: 25 Qs/75 marks
- English Language & Comprehension: 25 Qs/75 marks
- Negative Marking: –1 mark for each wrong answer
All scores are normalized across multiple shifts
Selection Process – SSC MTS Recruitment 2025
The selection process is designed to shortlist the best candidates through a rigorous screening method:
MTS
- Shortlisting based on performance in Session‑II of the CBE.
- Separate State/UT‑ and category‑wise cut‑offs for two age groups (18–25 & 18–27).
- Final merit list solely on normalized Session‑II scores.
Havaldar - Shortlisting in a 1:7 ratio (vacancies : candidates) for Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/Physical Standard Test (PST) based on Session‑II scores.
- Final merit combines CBE performance, PET/PST qualification, and “Post‑cum‑State/UT/CCA” preferences.
- Candidates failing PET/PST remain eligible for MTS if their CBE score meets the cut‑off
Syllabus –
The syllabus for the ALP recruitment is structured into two segments:
- Numerical & Mathematical Ability: Number systems, fractions, percentage, ratio & proportion, averages, interest, profit & loss, mensuration, data interpretation, etc.
- Reasoning & Problem Solving: Series, analogies, classification, coding–decoding, puzzles, non‑verbal reasoning, calendars, clocks, etc.
- General Awareness: History, geography, polity, economics, general science, environment, current affairs (Class X level).
- English Language: Vocabulary, grammar, sentence completion, synonyms/antonyms, comprehension passage
